U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-9th) and State Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz (D-17th) held a listening session attended by high school students and gun control advocates at the Glenview Public Library. The Wednesday, Sept. 7 event comes in the wake of the mass shooting at Highland Park’s July 4 parade, and federal gun control legislation that recently passed the U.S. House, but heads to an uncertain future in the U.S. Senate.
At Wednesday’s gathering at the Glenview Public Library, an emergency room doctor who works at Evanston’s St. Francis Hospital and other locations discusses her experience with shooting victims, and the time a shooter fired at a hospital she was working at in Chicago’s Portage Park. The bullet missed her head by inches. U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (right) looks on. (Tom Robb/Journal photo)
