November Newsletter

Dear Neighbors,

This week my colleagues and I returned to Springfield for the first of two weeks of Veto Session. Over the past several months members of the General Assembly have been meeting in work groups to focus on issues including public safety, reproductive healthcare, mental health and gun violence. Our goal is to build consensus and have legislation ready for consideration by the House during these critical months leading up to the inauguration of the 103rd General Assembly in January.

It has been an honor of a lifetime to represent my community in Springfield. As we look ahead to the holiday season and precious time with loved ones, I want to wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

As always, if you are ever in need of assistance, do not hesitate to contact my office. We are available weekdays at (847) 486-8810, you can also email us at info@gonggershowitz.com.

Sincerely,

Representative Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz

District Update

I would like to thank the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois for honoring me as one of their top 2022 Women Legislator’s alongside my colleagues Sen. Cristina Castro and Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado.

Sen. Laura Fine and I were able to stop by Covenant Senior Living in Northbrook for the first time since before COVID to sit down with seniors and discuss the work we are doing in Springfield.

I was recently back at the Skokie Chamber of Commerce’s annual legislative forum alongside Sen. Ram Villivalm, Sen. Laura Fine, Treasurer Mike Frerichs, MWRD Commissioner Josina Morita and Niles Township Supervisor Bonnie Kahn Ognisanti. It is always great to hear directly from our business community on important issues.

I was so happy to participate in this year’s “Principal for a Day” event at Winkelman Elementary School. We met with administrators and toured the building, but the highlight of my day was sitting with Ms. Lauter’s 3rd grade class to answer their questions and talk to them about what it means to be a good citizen and neighbor.

District Shout Out
Westcott School and Westmoor Elementary

Last month two Northbrook schools were honored as 2022 National Blue Ribbons recipients. Westmoor School in Northbrook/Glenview District 30 and Westcott in Northbrook District 28. I want to recognize all the hard work done by teachers and staff to be rewarded with this honor!
