Ismaili Center Girl Scout Event

In March, I met with local Girl Scouts at Glenview’s Ismaili Center. I spoke to the girls about the work I do and the importance of advocacy. I was thrilled to meet with the girls and their families and hear about the projects they are working on.

Earth-A-Palooza, Sunday April 14th at Linne Woods!

Join us on Sunday April 14th for the second annual Earth-a-palooza! The event will take place Sunday, April 14th from 10am to Noon at Linne Woods. You may register ahead of time HERE.

Earth-a-palooza is an eco-friendly family fun fest that provides a wide array of activities including Guided Nature Walks, Junior Rangers Program, Brookfield Zoo Animals, Bird Watching, Touch-a-Truck, kids crafts and more.

Secretary of State website now offers over 130 languages

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is now offering over 130 languages on the office’s website to help ensure that Illinoisans whose primary language is not English can access critical information and resources in their preferred language.

A list of the languages available can be viewed HERE. Users can choose any available language to perform any task offered on the website, including renewing a driver’s license or obtaining a vehicle sticker.

2024-25 FAFSA Applications Are Open

The 2024-2025 FAFSA Application is officially open. With expanded eligibility for aid this year, federal officials expect hundreds of thousands more students nationwide to qualify. Make sure to visit http://studentaid.gov to start your application today.

Tax Day is 4/15!

A reminder that tax day is fast approaching! If you are in need of assistance you can contact the Illinois Department of Revenue’s Taxpayer Assistance Division at 1-800-732-8866 or via email HERE.

Events and Opportunities

  • Skokie Park District’s Passover Matzah Bake and Puppets, will take place on April 10th from 5pm-6pm at the Devonshire Cultural Center. Learn about the Jewish holiday, Passover, in this interactive family event. Starting with a stalk of wheat, participants will make kosher matzah themselves and eat it on the spot. They will also hear captivating stories that recount the significance of the holiday. Brought to you by Lubavitch Chabad Skokie.Pre-registration is required $10/$13 per family and kids under 10 should be accompanied by an adult. For more information click HERE.
  • Wilmette Park District’s Celebrate Earth Day at Keay will take place on April 20th at the Keay Center from 10am – 12pm. Festivities will include a family nature walk, crafts, snacks and more. No RSVP needed. For more information click HERE.
  • Fish Release Day at Lake Glenview will take place on April 20th at 12:30 pm. Join the Glenview Park District, The Rotary Club of Glenview Sunrise, and the village of Glenview to release native fish species into Lake Glenview. Live fish and buckets will be provided while supplies last. All ages are welcome. More information is available HERE.
  • Evanston Maker’s Market sixth season will open on May 5th from 12-5pm at the Maple Parking Garage (5th floor), located at 1800 Maple Avenue. This is a unique opportunity to shop directly from artists, artisans and makers. This market features hundreds of unique and one-of-a-kind, handmade goods like art, craft, wearables, jewelry, stationary, handbags, etc. For more information click HERE.
  • Morton Grove’s Mental Health Awareness Walk will take place on May 4th from 10-11:30am at Prairie View Park. Take a break from daily stressors and come together to unwind by walking, playing with dogs and enjoying some craft projects. Registration is $15. $10 of every registration will be donated to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization and is dedicated to improving the lives of millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Participants will also receive a free guest pass to Club Fitness. Dogs are welcome but they must be on a leash of 6 ft or less.For more information and to register click HERE.
